Job Shadowing
Job shadowing is a work experience option where students learn about a job by walking through the work day as a shadow to a competent worker. The job shadowing work experience is a temporary, unpaid exposure to the workplace in an occupational area of interest to the student. At the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center(SCCTC), job shadowing is encouraged and opportunities for job shadowing are provided as instructors or students request them. Some courses at the SCCTC require a job shadowing experience for completion, at other times, such as when the practical NOCTI assessments are being given to SCCTC seniors, underclassmen are encouraged to choose a site where they would like to job shadow for the day because all the shop areas are set up for the practical assessments, however, students may elect to job shadow at a site of their choice at any time during the school year.
The student's sending school and the parents of the student as well as the SCCTC administration and a business site representative must all sign an agreement to provide this opportunity for the student. A short report on the job shadowing experience is required to be submitted by the student to their instructor or the cooperative education coordinator.
Job shadowing at the SCCTC is facilitated by the Cooperative Education Coordinator under the cooperative education program.
